Then we currently have an exciting new opportunity as a Science and Technical Communications Manager based in the East Midlands region of England The WALTHAM® Centre for Pet Nutrition (WCPN) is the hub of our global scientific research activities, here we work with dogs, cats, birds, fish and horses. In collaboration with global scientific institutes, our unique team of scientists and technicians conduct research that underpins leading Mars brands such as Whiskas®, Pedigree®, Trill®, Cesar®, Sheba®, Kitekat®, Aquarian®, Winergy® and Royal Canin. What are we looking for? This role offers an opportunity to capitalise on the high quality pet science being generated by WALTHAM and drive value generation in support of Mars Petcare both through internal and external audiences and opinion formers in support of our business and our brands. Our team has pioneered some of the most important breakthroughs in pet nutrition, and has shared the results of the Centre’s research via more than 1,500 publications. By communicating our science in peer reviewed journals and at world leading conferences we constantly progress the knowledge base in areas of pet nutrition and care benefiting both academia and the pet food industry as a whole. We use our knowledge to continuously improve the products available for feeding and care of pets, helping the world’s pets to live healthier and happier lives, and we have a lasting positive impact on the health and care of pets worldwide. You will be responsible for driving delivery of value extraction strategies for our research portfolio and will develop a proactive vibrant science communications and public relations programme designed to drive corporate reputation in support of Mars Petcare and our brands. What skills will you need? We are looking for people with the following experience and skills · BSc and PhD or MSc in nutrition, veterinary, related science/science communication discipline or experience commensurate with this level of qualification. · Proven experience of working within a research environment · Sound decision quality, strong critical thinking and judgement skills · A high level of energy, motivation and drive for results · Proven experience of managing multiple projects or activity management · Peer relation skills and the ability to get things done through both formal and informal networks · Fluency in a second language (not essential) What can you expect from us?
