Offshore Wind Health & Safety Manager
Leading Renewable Energy Developer
(London)

Our client is a leading developer of Renewable Energy project worldwide, focusing on onshore and offshore wind projects together with emerging renewable technologies.
They construct and operate renewable energy assets globally with a commitment to delivering their projects to the highest safety standards.

They are actively seeking an Offshore Wind Health and Safety Manager to provide expert health and safety advice in relation to planning, construction and operation of their Offshore Wind Farms and associated works.

You must be equipped with a broad range of offshore HS&E competence and have a proven record in the offshore wind industry. You must hold a degree or equivalent professional qualification. In addition you will hold a NEBOSH Diploma or Certificate plus addition training or qualifications to support your application.

Key Responsibilities/Activities :

Understand, promote and adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and policies in undertaking all activities. Liaison with Regulatory Bodies to ensure our client is compliant with mandatory rules and regulations.

Undertake safety audits, risk assessments and incident investigations which identify and take into account all relevant hazards.

Assist in the preparation and review of contract documentation and scopes of work and in the selection and management of offshore contractors.

Pro-actively keep abreast with all latest developments and new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all the Health & Safety legislation and any developments that affect our client’s business activities.

Inform colleagues about relevant H&S legislation, guidance and precedents associated with implications in relation to offshore development.

Ensure the offshore development team are informed and aware of health and safety requirements and that health and safety is a key priority for all team members.

Work with the H&S Manager to promote our client’s culture of ‘continuous HSE improvement’ and to share good practices across the company. Plan practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, to promote health and safety and safe working practices.

Lead in-house training with managers and employees regarding key health and safety issues.

Respond to consultations and contribute to external studies/research working groups as appropriate.

Pro-actively engage with stakeholders, partners, industry, BWEA and regulators on offshore H&S issues.

Liaise with offshore colleagues, including Project Managers and the Environment Manager to ensure that the ‘Environment’ is fully integration into H&S plans.

Liaise with our client’s partners and colleagues (Finance and Engineering), to ensure projects are designed and developed to be practical, safe and efficient and pose minimum impact to the environment or stakeholders.

Ensure a consistent approach is taken to HS&E across all offshore markets.

Design and support a range of prevention and training measures to improve safety.

Develop occupational safety elements of integrated H&S management systems, including preparation and dissemination of all relevant documentation, development of appropriate safety standards, reporting and information chains and emergency management.

Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins as required.
